Indian Muslim Ladies Association launched in Kuwait

The leading socio-cultural and welfare organization of Indian expatriates ‘Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association’ (KKMA) recently launched its women’s wing ‘Indian Muslim Ladies Association’ (IMLA) in Kuwait at an impressive ceremony. The IMLA was formed on 6th March 2009, but the launching event took place only on 3rd April 2009. It may be noted that the IMLA has come into being with the sole purpose of promoting and strengthening goodwill among its members and encouraging participation in the social and cultural activities of the association. The launching ceremony was marked by a variety of programmes.

At the outset, Muhsina Abdul Muneer recited verses from the Holy Qur’an signaling the start of the launch ceremony. The General Secretary of IMLA Nameera Isham welcome the gathering. The President of IMLA Arifa Abdul Fatah presided over the ceremony. Addressing the gathering Arifa called upon the women urging them to unite for good and actively participate in all the forthcoming socio cultural activities of the IMLA. She also outlined the vision and future plans of the IMLA.

Sridevi Pradeep, the Principal of Indian Community School of Kuwait (Khaitan branch), was the chief guest on the occasion. In her enlightened address she impressed upon the parents telling them that it is their duty to present themselves as a role model before their children. She pointed out that each child begins his/her lessons from the mother and tries to emulate and inculcate habits by keenly observing their parents in all aspects.

Dr. Rooba Mosses, a well known gynecologist at German Clinic, who participated in the ceremony provided her professional insight to the gathering and counseled them on how and when to seek the help of a gynecologist.

The flyer of the forthcoming cooking contest of IMLA was launched by Executive Chef at Le Meridien Eby Joseph, which was delivered to the KKMA chairman Sageer Trikarpur. Eby also gave tips on how to judge a cookery show.

The winner of the last two cooking contest of KKMA Grace Saju enthralled the gathering with a show with fruits and vegetables. She displayed her cooking and food presentation skills. This enthused participants and braced them up for the next contest which will be a challenge for them.

The cultural programme was hosted by Samah Sageer and Sana Siddique. The guests were entertained with songs, short stories and group songs by the tiny tots of IMLA – Aftab Muhammad Thayyil, Rifa Hamza, Aani Fathima, Rasha Fathima, Ayisha Shahama and Aina Shahima. A speech on modern media and Islam was given by Rasna Hamza.

Chairman of KKMA Sageer Trikarpur and President of KKMA N.A. Muneer felicitated the participants. Secretary of IMLA Saneeba Abdul Ghafoor presented the vote of thanks.
