SPECIAL REPORT: Gaza Lives On / The Spirit of Palestine — A Photo Story by Suhailah Jamal

[We present here a painstaking and valiant effort made by Suhailah Jamal, an erudite Electronics and Communication Engineer based in Hyderabad, India. Through this Photo Story, Ms. Jamal wants to shed some light on the onslaught on Gaza. The pictures presented here shows the exemplary courage and never-say-die-spirit of the people of Gaza. They have gained victory because they were resilient. This article and photo story is a small tribute by Ms. Jamal to salute the courage of the Gazans and entire Palestinians. India’s First Online Muslim Newspaper “IndianMuslimObserver.com” also joins Ms. Suhailah Jamal in saluting the indomitable spirit of the people of Gaza and profoundly share their miseries and untold sufferings brought by the inhuman and brutal Israeli Army. Undoubtedly, the steadfastness of the Palestinians also teaches the world how to live everyday in spite of being shrouded in death every minute. The main contributors of the pictures and the stories behind them are the doctors working in Al Shifa hospital, the biggest medical facility in Gaza. One of the brave heart Dr. Mohammed N. Ziara, a medical student and National Secretary General of IFMSA-Palestine, is a friend of Ms. Suhailah Jamal. Thank you very much both Ms. Suhailah Jamal and Dr. Mohammed N. Ziara for your efforts and courage to share the miseries, sacrifice and never-say-die spirit of the Palestinian people, particularly those from Gaza, with Indian Muslim Observer and bring it before the whole world. — Danish Ahmad Khan, Founder-Editor, IndianMuslimObserver.com]

Their homes destroyed, their loved ones killed and everything that they worked for, gone but the spirit of the people of Gaza remained strong, they kept their courage alive and they held onto their sumud(steadfastness) tightly as death surrounded them day and night.

A powerful quote that has gone viral and rightfully so on social media describes the situation

“Today everything is made in China, except for courage because courage is made in Palestine! “

Today that courage and resilience has won them this moment of victory and and it’s a victory well deserved.

1.  The courage of Al Shija’iya

Gaza Killings1Picture 1: Civilians flee as shelling continues in Al Shija’iya, a city in Gaz
Picture 2: While running the woman turns back and sees that a boy has fallen and is probably too injured to move
Picture 3: Israeli tanks continue to fire, but she goes back to the boy
Picture 4: Extends her hand to save him because THIS IS GAZA

2. A picture is worth a thousand words

The rockets destroyed her house and everything in it and yet she came back to collect her books.

WHY? Why does she have to read again? Her school might have been destroyed, her teachers might not be alive anymore yet she wants to study because this is Palestine and this is the spirit of the Palestinian children.
