Hyderabad: M Madhu Goud, Corporator of Gunfoundry Division and senior Congress (I) Party leader has strongly denied the allegations of grabbing a Wakf land being leveled against him by some people with vested interests.
Mr Goud recently issued a legal notice to M Anand Goud, TDP leader, for issuing false statement against him and blaming him for encroaching Wakf land through his legal counsel Muzaffer Ullah Khan (Adv). In his legal notice Mr. Goud demanded that if within 10 days M Anand Goud does not apologise through newspapers in which his statement accusing him of land grabbing appeared then he will be forced to file a Rs. 4 crore damage suit in the court against the TDP leader.
Referring to a news item that appeared in a section of media on 13th Nov 2014 M Madhu Goud (Corporator) had earlier said that all the allegations against him were completely false and baseless. “I did not encroach upon even an inch of land belonging to anyone, including the Wakf Board,” he had said in a press release issued recently.
He said that the allegations against him were politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing his clean image among the people. “I was a Corporator in erstwhile Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) and even served as Chairman, Standing Committee of Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad from 2002-03. I got re-elected as Corporator in GHMC elections held in 2009. During my entire political career, I maintained a clean record and never indulged in any illegal activities like land grabbing,” Mr. Goud said.
Mr. Goud clarified and pointed out that the news item published by some newspapers is in fact a Press Note issued by one M Anand Kumar Goud, who claims to be the TDP leader of Greater Hyderabad.
He said he was being targeted by his political opponents in view of forthcoming GHMC elections. He expressed regret that a section of media did not bother to cross check the facts with him before publishing the press note issued by a so-called TDP leader. He also denied allegations that he used the influence of his elder brother and former minister M Mukesh Goud to grab Wakf lands. “I’m not even aware of any encroachments in and around D K Market, Begum Bazar where I’ve been accused of grabbing 200 sq yards of Wakf land,” he said.
Mr. Goud had earlier threatened that he would be filing a criminal defamation suit against M Anand Kumar Goud if he failed to tender an apology immediately. He also threatened to take legal against the newspapers who published the Press Note carrying serious allegations against him without seeking his version. He advised media houses to be cautious with people who plant fake stories to tarnish the image of reputed politicians.
He further stated that his family is well known in the city for its integrity and commitment for people’s welfare. He said he neither indulged in land grabbing or other illegal activities, nor supported others in doing so. He said the story of encroachment on Wakf land was especially fabricated by TDP leaders to tarnish his image among the Muslim community, which exists in large numbers in his division.
He demanded that M Anand Kumar Goud and all the newspapers who published his version should prove their allegations with documentary evidence. Else, they should face legal action. He advised the people not to get misled by the false propaganda being carried out by some TDP leaders. He said people are well aware of the damage done to Wakf properties in the state during previous TDP regimes from 1994 to 2004.
