Jeddah: Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath (TNTJ), a South Indian organization, Jeddah region has successfully organized a blood donation campaign on yesterday (18/09/15 Friday) aimed at helping the pilgrims for this year’s Hajj.
A major hospital in Makkah Province, King Fahd Hospital (KFHJ),Jeddah, supervised and coordinated the camp, in which more than 165 volunteers donated 129 units of blood.
“We arranged this big event and donated blood for Hajj pilgrims,” said the organizers and members of TNTJ.
A large number of expatriates mostly from Tamil-speaking community from India pledged to donate on a regular basis.
The KFHJ Lab team led by Ali Omar Hamad provided full support to TNTJ volunteers. Dr.Imad, chief at KFHJ Blood Bank, thanked TNTJ organizers for organizing the blood donation drive and continuing to do this noble work. Further, he said, so far in the KFHJ blood donation campaign, TNTJ is the only organization that has been contributing immensely to the cause, with such large numbers of donors in each campaign.
Jeddah TNTJ Vice President Naina Mohamed said, “TNTJ organizes voluntary blood donation campaign for the emergency requirements for Umrah and Hajj season. By the grace of Almighty Allah, TNTJ will continue to be No. 1 in voluntary blood donation campaign in the Gulf country. And in recognition of their noble contribution, TNTJ has been feted repeatedly by the Ministry of Health both here in Saudi Arabia and by the Tamil Nadu state government.”
TNTJ also regularly performs educational, charity, humanitarian, and social services to serve the people. These events help in improving harmony and also create awareness about Islam, he added.
A standard health screening procedure was done prior to blood being donated.
Each donor underwent tests for blood pressure, sugar and hemoglobin count before the donation. The checks also included communicable diseases.
Majority of the donors said that they are indebted to TNTJ and KFHJ and their service would help the guests of Allah. At the end of the campaign, hospital authorities informed that these type of camps created a awareness among Saudis and expatriates.
Jamal Gafoor, TNTJ spokesperson of this campaign, said that the donor’s blood will be used for the requirements of Hajj pilgrims. We conduct these camps according to the verse of Noble Qur’an Chapter 5 verse 32 “Whoever saves a life will be as if he has saved entire mankind” which will create social harmony and raze hatred among Muslims.”
“Jeddah TNTJ is well known in hospital circles not only for conducting campaigns also for its frequent blood donations on urgent basis. TNTJ volunteers will transport the donors to the hospital and back,” he added.
This is 10th such blood drive of this nature by TNTJ Jeddah region.
