Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu: Zywary Foundation has announced its inaugural Modest Fashion Talent Search contest dedicated to young and upcoming women fashion designers in India for the Muslim fashion world. The contest is open for entries from February 3 through March 15, 2016. Official rules and entry criteria can be found at www.zywary.org.
A Thomson Reuters/Dinar Standard study recently said that the global Modest Fashion market is presently estimated to be US$230 billion (11% total global market) and expected to grow to US$327 billion (6% CAGR) by 2020.
Rushdi Siddiqui, Chairman of Zywary Foundation said, “To be human, we must always think about others who have less than us and how best can we spark their dreams into reality. All dreams need some financial help and a platform to sell their products. The DNA of Zywary Foundation is to give back, so we have established an on-going modest fashion contest, winners are given micro-grants, 10,000 and 8,000 and 5,000 Rupees to ‘dream, design and develop.”
Mr. Siddiqui, who is also a Columnist with India’s First Online Muslim Newspaper ‘IndianMuslimObserver.com’ and writes extensively on Islamic Finance, stressed on the need to encourage the exploration of ideas, trends, expand borders and boundaries in the modest fashion. “In promoting a better understanding of modest fashion, we want creative women to showcase how they interpret Modest Fashion, from conservative to contemporary all within the bounds of modesty,” he said.
Zywary Foundation is a non-profit, micro-grant giving organization for encouraging, empowering, enfranchising women entrepreneurs in establishing excellence in modest fashion. It was established in 2015 and is headquartered in Tamil Nadu. Its mandate is to encourage, empower, enfranchise women to ‘dream, design and develop’ their interpretation of Modest Fashion. Mohamed Abu Syed is its founder and renowned Islamic Finance expert Rushdi Siddiqui is its chairman. Among other prominent office bearers include Saifuddin Ariff, Vice Chairman; and Bijrul Hafeezh, Managing Trustee. The advisors include Ln.Dr.H.Mohamed Ali, Secretary of Muslim Arts College, Thiruvithancode; and N.Nadeem, Director, Institute of Fashion Design, Chennai.
