Calicut: “There is the need to preserve one’s cultural and social identity. In the past, bright persons passed out of academic institutions by pursuing the path of righteousness,” said Panakkad Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal, Kerala State President of Indian Union Muslim league.
“Students’ activities in the campus should be of constructive nature, but unfortunately nowadays in many campuses, students are not observing the rule of law and this was a threat to the democratic norms and secular fabric,” said Mr. Shihab Thangal on December 17, 2016. He was speaking after inaugurating the national delegates’ meet of the Muslim Students Federation (MSF) at the Municipal Town Hall here. Student organizations such as the MSF should be able to remove the ill-effects plaguing the campus.
“What was needed was a pragmatic approach to students’ issues and not one driven by emotion,” he said.
Syed Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal said that students should not concentrate just on education, which makes one eligible to get degrees and certificates.
“There is also the need to preserve one’s cultural and social identity.in the past, bright persons passed out of academic institutions by pursuing the path of righteousness. The Indian Union Muslim League also wants the MSF to pursue such a path and not indulge in mere politicking,” he said.
Prof K.M.Kader Mohideen Ex-M.P., General Secretary of Indian Union Muslim League, presided over the meet. He said that all four frontal organizations of the Indian Union Muslim League, including the Women’s Wing and Youth Wing, were being given a national identity and the conference held on Saturday 17-12-2016 was a step in this direction. Indian Union Muslim League-Kerala State General Secretary welcomed the gathering.
P.K.Kunhalikutty M.L.A., Treasurer of Indian Union Muslim League, who delivered the main speech, said that the BJP was indulging in divide and rule by taking a leaf out of the British rule. Among the others who spoke were National Secretary E.T.Muhammed Basheer M.P.; M.P. Abdul Samad Samadani Ex.M.P. Kerala State Secretary P.V.
