Jeddah: Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath (TNTJ), a social organization from India, celebrated their country’s 69th Republic Day by donating blood in Jeddah to commemorate the day in a meaningful manner and express patriotism in a way that could help others and save lives.
On Friday, 26th January 2018, around 157 members of TNTJ volunteered for blood donation at King Abdul Aziz Hospital at South Jeddah Al Mahjer District. However, 135 donors successfully donated their blood.
Mohammed Munaff, President of TNTJ Jeddah Region, said, “The members decided to celebrate the Republic Day in a unique style by organizing a blood donation camp in Jeddah. We did that to honor the heroes of India’s freedom struggle.”
Mr. Muaff further remarked, “We set an example to follow other fellow Indians by conducting this kind of blood donation campaigns to mark our country’s Republic Days and Independence Days in a useful manner.”
Salahudeen, Camp Organizer & Secretary of TNTJ Jeddah region, informed that the entire procedure took less than 30 minutes for each donor from the general health check till blood donation.
TNTJ is comprised of a group of Tamil-speaking people whose aim is to serve the society. We got an overwhelming response from our community members and from others as well. The noble act of donating blood will not only give a new lease of life to many, it also heightens our common sense of social responsibility by serving the humanitarian and social needs of our local communities”, he added.
Dr.Ali Khodary said, “Indian’s service would help who suddenly fall ill or met with accidents require blood. Moreover, these kinds of camps have created awareness among local Saudis and expatriates.”
TNTJ Jeddah Chapter conducted its 17th Blood Donation Drive in Jeddah on the occasion of India’s 69th Republic Day. The campaign started at 2 pm on Friday and ended by 6 pm.
TNTJ is considered to be among the top organizations for organizing blood donation campaigns in Tamil Nadu, India and in many GCC countries. The Government of Tamil Nadu has also honored TNTJ with number of awards appreciating its social concern to serve humanity.
