A delegation of Osmania University Alumni Association Riyadh (OUAAR), comprising its President Mohammed Quaiser, Vice President Engr. Mohammed Mubin, and Treasurer Meer Taqi, recently met Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and submitted a memorandum on important NRI issues.
The delegation requested Ms. Swaraj that the Indians residing in Saudi Arabia and Middle Eastern countries should not be designated as “NRI” because they are essentially overseas contract workers, and their children could be exempted from hefty fees charged for the professional courses by the Medical and Engineering colleges.
Ms. Swaraj has also agreed to their request and assured to change their “NRI” status. Mohammed Quaiser said, “I am happy to inform that Ms. Sushma Swaraj patiently heard other various issues of Indian expatriates and asked many specific questions for the betterment of the expatriate community from the country. She assured the delegation that she will study the memorandum thoroughly submitted by OUAAR and take effective steps to get all possible welfare measures implemented soon.
