M. A. Muid Khan honoured with coveted “Best Human Rights Lawyer of England & Wales for 2018” award

London: Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer & Barrister M. A. Muid Khan has been crowned with the prestigious “Best Human Rights Lawyer of the England & Wales for 2018” award by the President of Bangladesh Lawyers Association (BLA)

Barrister Shah Alom Sarker, President of BLA, declared Mr. Khan, a former student of Department of Law, University of Dhaka, as the “Best Human Rights Lawyer England & Wales 2018” for his significant contribution in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms at national and international level.

BLA Excellence Awards are the most highly coveted and respected accolades given to individual qualified British lawyers, studied at the Department of Law, University of Dhaka – the top best university of Bangladesh, who have achieved extraordinary success and shown extraordinary leadership, passion and commitment in the British Legal Field. Mr. Khan was chosen for this prestigious national legal award for his significant achievements at the legal field of United Kingdom & Wales.

To honour Mr. Khan, on Sunday 25th February 2018, at 7:00 PM, a special Award Presentation Night was arranged by the BLA President Shah Alam Sarkar (Barrister) at the Atrium London Venue, 124 Cheshire Street, London, E2 6EJ, United Kingdom. Mr. Khan was crowned with the award, a commemorative trophy, certificate, winner’s logo and a £1000 cheque from the President; in the presence of leading Judges, Barristers, Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executive Lawyers and other legal professionals of England & Wales.

Mr. Khan dedicated this award jointly to his late father Prof. A. N. M. Abdul Mannan Khan & spiritual father Mark Simpson QC. Mr. Khan also donated the prize money to Princes Trust as his chosen charity;

Barrister MA Muid Khan Award1Mr. Khan was chosen for this award as he is the first British Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer of Bangladeshi origin to win the CILEX President award 2016, a very prestigious national legal award given only to an individual British lawyer for his outstanding contribution in the legal field that an individual British lawyer can receive in his career as a Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer.

The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) is the professional association and governing body for Chartered Legal Executive lawyers; which represents/regulates more than 20,000 trainee and practising Chartered Legal Executives in the England & Wales. On 30 January 2012, CILEX became incorporated by Royal Charter and are now known as the ‘Chartered Institute of Legal Executives’. CILEX work closely with the UK Government and the Ministry of Justice and are recognised in England and Wales as one of the three core approved regulators of the legal profession alongside barristers and solicitors.

Mr. Khan has recorded many laudable “firsts” in the course of his career due to which in April 2011, the Law Society, Bar Council & CILEX jointly honoured him with their joint prestigious national legal award “Advocacy in the face of Adversity 2011”. In September 2011, Mr. Khan has also become as one of the top seven short listed Legal Executive Lawyers of England & Wales for the Law Society’s prestigious “Excellence Award 2011”. Again in 2012, the Law Society again shortlisted Mr. Khan for their prestigious national legal award “Excellence Award 2012”. In 2012, International Bar Association (IBA) also selected Mr. M. Khan for their Pro Bono Award from the United Kingdom. On 30th May 2012, the CILEX Judges honoured Mr. Khan with their prestigious national legal award “CILEX Pro-Bono Medal 2011”. “Who’s Who 2011 – British-Bangladeshi” also recognized his outstanding achievement as “one of the most successful and recognized figures in the British Bangladeshi community.

Barrister MA Muid Khan Award2Mr. Khan runs his Free Legal Advice Centre on every Thursday. He is also the giving free legal advice with a smiling face to his community. He is the founder father of two top popular live legal shows for NTV Europe i.e. “Legal Update with NTV” and Law & Rights (Aiyeen o Odhikar) aired live on every Saturday on Sky Channel 838 (NTV Europe).

Mr. Khan is actively involved with Princes Trust UK, Cancer Research UK, Amnesty International UK, World Jewish Relief, Christian Aid, Muslims Aid, Jewish Care, UNICEF UK and various other national and international charity. For his significant contribution to human rights and fundamental freedom, Divine Restoration International Church, one of the churches of England appointed him as the Chief Church Lawyer. He is the first Muslim lawyer to be appointed in this highly prestigious post by the governing body of this Black & Afro-caribbean church.

Mr Khan also regularly contributes articles in the national and international newspapers including Barristers Magazine, Law Society Gazette, CILEX Journal, UK Border Agency’s publication, LexisNexis, Daily Star, The Independent, the Financial Times, Bangla Mirror, the New Nations, Islamic Digest and Dhaka Courier.

Mr. Khan is the second son of late Prof. & Ex-chairman, Department of Arabic, University of Dhaka. His elder brother is Prof. Dr. M. A. Munim Khan Noman, Professor, National University, Bangladesh. His younger brother is the VIP Pilot Officer of Bangladesh Air Force.
