By Manzar Imam

Malopara (Purnea): The sixth branch of Haider’s Conscious Academy was launched in the jubilant presence of academicians, intellectuals, public representatives, members of civil society and hundreds of people from different villages of Malopara, Raiber, Bara Istambrar and other panchayats, at Malopara under Baisa Block on Sunday, 25th March, 2018.

To mark the opening ceremony an educational awareness conference was also organized in which participants laid emphasis on significance of education in general and on primary education in particular.

Conscious Academy Malopara-Manzar Imam1Underscoring the need for taking education to rural areas, Dr Raashid Nehal, Director, AMU Kishanganj Centre said, “Poor and underprivileged children not coming to us is our failure” whether at the level of communication, admission policy or test centres, as we can see that they (both children and their guardians) have passion for learning but, at the same time, lack resources for the same. I have observed that there is no difference between urban and rural talent, he said adding that it is our duty to reach out to them.

Bihar State president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and former Kochadhaman MLA Akhtarul Iman spoke at length about the contribution of freedom fighters and leaders who had set benchmarks in setting up excellent academic institutions and said that that spirit was missing in the present day leadership. Iman urged teachers and guardians to allow children of different religious backgrounds to study and play together so that they develop tolerance and have respect for one another.

Conscious Academy Malopara-Manzar Imam2Speaking on this occasion, Engineer Mohammad Aslam Alig, president of Human Chain and Director of Recaz Group of Companies, appreciated the founders and all the contributors who facilitated to launch the Academy in an area which has been ignored by pubic representatives and which remains underrepresented. He hoped that the Academy will flourish and grow to become an important institution in years to come.

President’s award winner Pt. Shyamanand Jha, who presided over the programme stressed on the need for quality education and suggested that both teachers and students needed to follow discipline in order to succeed and set good example for others.

Conscious Academy Malopara-Manzar Imam3Development professional Samreen Alam, formerly working in Purnea district for Central Government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, remarked that any development effort must take into consideration the financial background of the people. “Farmers with low income cannot afford private education”. She appealed that provision should be made to provide free education to at least some percent of economically poor children so that the fruits of education also reach them.

Manzar Imam, Ph.D. scholar, Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia said, “The biggest obstacle in the way of learning is lack of passion and interest”. If one is able to fight that out one would succeed in overpowering other challenges. Education is necessary among other things also because it develops in man critical thinking and frees him from the shackles of forced ideas, he said.

Sarwar Alam, former Assistant Professor, AMU Kishanganj Centre; former MLA of Amour, Saba Zafar; Shamim Akhtar Nadwi, research scholar, University of Delhi; Mahfooz Alam, Director, Dream Public School, Barsoni, Purnea; Naiyar Alam, Director, Barsoi Public School, Katihar; Mazharul Bari, social activist; Ziaur Rahman, Block Resource Person, K Nagar, Purnea; Dr Shahkar Alam; Engineer Shah Firoz; Nooruz Zaman (Bablu) and others also shared their views.
